During the level 'Angel's Lair' in the Tower, an intel document titled 'Observations' can be found. The document is an initial assessment of the central tower by Dr. Thomas Yearling and was dated the 14th of July 1951.

He mentions that that the interior supports make the structure extremely resilient to external pressure. He also comments how the temperature is extremely cold causing several nosebleeds amongst the men. He also comments how the structure is easily capable of holding creatures larger than Widowmakers and Angels.
