Sheperd had a horrible childhood. His father was a drunk who abused him and had an extremely foul temper. Sheperd managed to make it through this difficult time though and married a woman named Hannah. Following this, he became a Bible salesman and he and his wife were expecting their first child. However, she unfortunately suffered a miscarraige and one day Jordan came home to see his neighbour (Mr. Hetterwood) comforting Hannah. Filled with paranoia about how close they were becoming, Shepherd was beside himself with rage and murdered them both.

Consumed with guilt, Shepherd joined the US Army. He wasn't concerned with making friends and was often teased for wanting to be in solitude. So, when Shepherd saw an advertisement about a new project called Project Abraham, he jumped at the chance.

Joining Project Abraham

In his application, Shepherd failed to mention that his immune system had been compromised at a young age. He feared that he would get rejected from the programme because he was exposed to radiation when he wandered into a chemical testing zone.

However, when he was injected with a pure strain of the Chimera virus his whole body started mutating and he eventually became known as Daedalus.
