Canning was a Lance Corporal who was captured during his patrol North of Liverpool. He was transported overland by Carriers and was then imprisoned at the Chimera Conversion Centre in Grimsby. He comments that it was mostly run by Menials.

He managed to escape from his cell in the Conversion Centre as the locking mechanism was rusted. After he escaped, he started writing up a brief piece of Intel, but it's unknown whether he successfully escaped the Conversion Centre after writing it.
