A Hidden Foe

The Chameleon is an extremely dangerous Chimeran strain which first appears in Resistance 2. What makes them so deadly is their ability to cloak, and become completely invisible Using their claws, they approach a player head on and unless defeated quickly they rip the player apart with their claws.

The cloaking device is attached to the Chameleon's body, along with the traditional cooling unit. They move much in the same fashion as a bear would on all fours as they charge at their opponent lifting onto their hind feet, before finishing with a deathblow. Generally Chameleons only attack their victims from the players current field of vision, and adequate warning is given as the ground quakes during their charge.

Chameleons have next to no health, so essentially any confrontation has a dueling type quality to it. Whoever lands an attack first wins. The Rossmore 238 remedies this situation rather effectively as simple firing as soon as the attack happens is more than ample enough to down a charging Chameleon dead in its tracks.

Chameleons also make an appearence in co-op, but they don't have the ability to perform one-hit kills anymore. However the same applies to the player, as they take substantually more damage. Chameleons in co-op also remain partially invisible at all times, and when completely invisible are completely invunerable.
