Resistance Retribution Sales Promising, For The PSP

(Posted: //) by Darryl

Released over three weeks ago to rave reviews from critics, Resistance Retribution was praised for being a perfect example of how a Playstation Portable game should be approached by developers. Sales haven't necessarily been through the roof, but it has been selling reasonably well for a PSP game.

According to VGChartz (an independent game sales estimator), sales across the board have actually been fairly even, with Japanese gamers (not predominantly known for their adoption of western software) buying the game at a frequency on par with those seen in Europe (approx 15k units in the first week), and only slightly behind North American gamers.

Games such as Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters and Tekken: Dark Resurrection have sold in the millions after starting off slowly, and this looks promising for Resistance Retribution as while it may not achieve those numbers in the short-term, it currently looks promising for high totals in the long-term.

Edge Reviews Resistance Retribution

(Posted: //) by Darryl

Edge were the first publication to reveal their review scores for the upcoming PSP title Resistance Retribution, and things don't seem overly positive.

Edge have recently become rather harsh with their reviews, famously giving Killzone 2 a 7/10, and more recently giving Resident Evil 5 a 7/10 also. With that in mind, it's not overly surprising that Edge have decided to give Resistance Retribution a 6/10.

This is pretty disappointing considering the praise it's been getting in all of the industry's previews. However, there are still plenty more reviews to come in the coming weeks before we're able to get our hands on the game ourselves.

Resistance Retribution Demo Added To EU PS Store

(Posted: //) by Darryl

People have been playing the demo for a little while now, as it's been up on the US store for some time. However, other players around the world have had to wait until their respective regions added it to their stores (or they used 'other' methods).

As of yesterday, it's now officially available in the European PSP Store and it clocks in at around 172mb. It looks to be exactly the same demo as featured in the US meaning it features an assortment of weapons, as well as obviously engaging the player into the control system. It also has PSP Plus included, so that can be tested out if you have a PS3 controller handy.

Resistance Retribution To Raise The Bar For PSP Titles

(Posted: //) by Darryl

By now, most people who either own a PSP, or are fans of the Resistance franchise know about the existance of Resistance Retribution. If they don't, then they're seriously missing out as Retribution is looking like one of the biggest PSP titles of 2009, if only because of the new innovations that the game brings to the format.

Set after the events of Resistance: Fall of Man, but before Resistance 2, Resistance Retribution follows the story of one James Grayson as he joins forces with Rachel Parker and Steven Cartwright from the first Resistance. One of the first noticable differences though, is that it's not being developed by Insomniac, but by Sony Bend. Insomniac were involved with the initial process, but that was only to get the story in place; other than that, Sony Bend have been free to do whatever they desire.
