The Air Fuel Grenade is a weapon developed by the British Armed in an effort to exploit a weakness in the Chimera. After realising that they cannot function under conditions of extreme heat, the Air Fuel Grenade is designed to turn up the temperature for the Chimera in a seriously messy way.

Once thrown, the Air Fuel Grenade will stick to whatever surface it lands on. So it's generally a good idea to try and throw it either between a group of Chimera, where the Chimera are about to run, or better yet, on a Chimera itself. The Grenade will instantly kill any low-order enemy that it touches and burn them to a crisp, creating a nice barbeque.

Obtained: The Air Fuel Grenade is acquired during the first playthrough in Northern Command - "Angel". It is obtained as soon as the level starts.

Tip: Try to tag a Chimera with an Air Fuel Grenade as there is absolutely no way they can escape the ensuing carnage no matter how much they try.

Air Fuel Online

Air Fuel Grenades are extremely powerful grenades, but they do also have their disadvantages. Like the Hedgehog Grenade, they will not activate until they land. However, they do not bounce, instead they stick to whatever surface they land on. So this could be the wall, the floor, or an enemy. The problem with this is that there is a 2-3 second period before they activate, which can give the opposition plenty of time to avoid the ensueing mass of fire that would otherwise engulf and instantly kill them.

If you're caught in the blast radius of an Air Fuel Grenade, you won't live to tell the tale, and if someone manages to stick one on you, it also looks quite grim. They can be shaken off though, but even after this is achieved, you still need to get out of the blast radius. Despite the fact Air Fuel Grenades can be stuck on enemies, Target Bomber cannot be obtained, since it does not activate straight away.

Tip: If you have yourself in a tight spot, you can use Air Fuel Grenades as cover for a hasty getaway. If people dare to follow you, there is a chance they will go up in flames, so most opponents won't take the risk.

Igniting The Single Player Campaign

(^Top) The Air Fuel Grenade makes a successful return in Resistance 2 and it's more useful than ever with the increased Chimeran threat. New enemies such as Grims are highly susceptible to the deadly force that this weapon displays.

As before, upon throwing the grenade will stick to whatever surface it touches first. This means it's perfect for setting traps, especially for enemies that are rushing your location. The damage also appears to be slightly more drawn out this time. Whereas before it was almost instant, now it creates a circular wave of fire around where the explosion initially landed.

Taking The Air Fuel Grenade Online In R2

Cooperative: The Air Fuel Grenade is exclusive to the Medic class in the cooperative mode of Resistance 2, and it's unlocked as the second grenade that a Medic is allowed to carry. It's certainly a nice multi-purpose ally to have around when things are getting tough.

Competitive: As with the other grenades, the Air Fuel only comes as standard when using certain primary weapons. Due to its timed delay, it is probably the most difficult to get kills with unless it is literally stuck to an opposing player. This isn't an easy task though, so the best bet is to throw it where you think someone is going to run, or just get lucky.
