Resistance 2

Nowhere To Hide

For Resistance 2, the Auger has been completely repurposed and the only thing that remains the same is its ability to fire through walls. This new modified version fires a new form of radiation which allows the particles to pass through solid matter much more quickly. Infact, it's now almost instant, as if there was nothing in the way. The gun also now has a much quicker rate of fire, making it much more deadly in the right hands.

The primary fire is much the same as before, except for the increased rate of fire. However, due to the usage of a new thermal visor, it is possible to see potential targets through walls. This means that the user of the weapon is no longer firing blindly into the dark. It also offers some kind of hit recognition, so when the target is hit by Auger fire, they flash red instead of the usual yellow.

Complimenting the improved offensive aspect of the weapon is the new and improved Auger Shield. It still deploys a static shield, but it is now considerably larger in both height and width, allowing for a much better defensive position.

I Can See You

Cooperative: The Auger Mk II can be used in the cooperative mode by both the Soldier and Spec Ops classes. It is probably more useful for the Spec Ops than the Soldier, due to the Wraith having a more than capable shield of its own, but to a Spec Ops class it could be very valuable, if only for the shield.

Competitive: Compared to the Auger, the improved model is amazingly better when used online. The ability to see targets through solid matter makes it much more strategic and it's no longer a huge disadvantage to be using the Auger. It should still be classified as a specialist's weapon though as it has a slightly decreased rate of fire online, as compared to offline play.
