Resistance: Fall of Man

Shotgun

The Rossmore 236 is a close-quarter weapon. It is relatively useless at long range, but can cause serious damage when in close proximity to the enemy. It comes with two different types of shot; the primary fire providing a single shot; and the secondary fire providing a double shot, which uses two shells at the same time, but as a consequence creates a larger gap between shots.

Against the lower-order Chimeran forces, such as Menials and Hybrids, the Rossmore 236 is very effective. However, against tougher enemies such as the Steelhead, it is not the best, infact, it's generally an encounter where the player will come off second best, especially on the harder difficulties.

Obtained: The Rossmore 236 is acquired during the first playthrough in Grimsby - "Fate Worse Than Death". After gaining the second checkpoint in the level, the Rossmore 236 is underneath some stairs that lead up to some wooden decking.

Tip: The Rossmore 236 is exceedingly effective against both Leapers and Rollers, so whenever you see some rolling around, or bursting out of their eggs, arm yourself with the Rossmore 236 and go to town.

Shotgun

The Rossmore 236 is a real brawler's weapon. It is terrible at distance, but close range it is exceedingly handy. It can only carry eighteen shells, but that's more than enough to inflict a lot of punishment on multiple foes. The single shot (primary fire) can kill any enemy in two shots as one full hit can do approx 75% of an opponent's health. It also has a relatively quick firing rate when compared to the amount of damage it can do.

The double shot is lethal when used by a Chimeran, as it will instant kill if good contact is made. This isn't the case when used by a Human though, and when the increased lag between shots is also added to the equation, double shot should be avoided when playing as a Human.

Tip: If you're using the Rossmore 236, you need to get up close and personal with the opposition. Attacking an enemy head on generally isn't a good idea, since you'll get gunned down before you get into range, so use your radar/rage to catch people by surprise.

Tip: When playing as the Chimera, make sure you use double shot to good effect, but try to avoid using it when playing on the Human side, or you could get easily gunned down between shots.
