Cutting Them Down To Size

The V7 Splicer is a completely new weapon for Resistance 2, and it's definitely one of the more innovative. Instead of using conventional bullets or particles, it fires saw blades, which are designed to rip opponents apart and dismember them.

The primary fire shoots the saw blades at extremely high velocities using an electro-magnetic system. However, due to the nature of the object being fired it doesn't necessarily go in a straight line and can veer off course. The secondary fire locks the blade onto the end of the gun and spins it, causing it to become red hot. Once it has reached a certain velocity it is ready to be fired and this can cause devastating amounts of damage. While the primary fire passes through an opponent, the secondary fire sticks in them causing damage over time.

Ripping People To Shreds

Cooperative: The Splicer can be used by the Medic once they reach level 28, and it is a very effective weapon purely because of its secondary fire. It will instant kill most Hybrids and against tougher enemies, it will still do damage over time after switching back to the Phoenix.

Competitive: When playing against other humans, it's hard to recommend the Splicer to anyone other than specialists. The primary fire is quite redundant unless you manage to get the drop one someone, but it can be quite effective when used in conjunction with the secondary fire. Essentially if you're using the Splicer, you need to make sure the secondary fire is charging at all times.
